Foo Foo the Cliff Bunny

Last updated 12/7/00

Aimee and I visited the Bunny Barn at the 2000 State Fair to visit the hundreds of bunnies. I took dozens and dozens of pictures of them in a futile effort innoculate us from any bunny purchases. It was no good. Aimee saw a particular bunny, and it was love at first sight. Most of the bunnies at the Fair are for sale, and this one was no exception. We named him Foo Foo.

Isn't he cute?!?
Look at that little bunny face!!!

However, shortly after bringing him home, we discovered that Foo Foo has a hobby. That's right: every time he is left unattended, he climbs up as high as he can get. He'd skip right over the shelf where we stored his food and make his way up to the window sill -- which, by the way, is 51 inches off the ground. We tried to get him to stop by blocking the paths he was using to get from shelf to shelf. It would work for a few days, and then he'd figure out a new way to get up.

Our answer? Foo Foo's Tower.   Wow, it's tall!   Side view

This structure is 84 inches tall, 36 inches wide, and 16 inches deep. It is entirely enclosed has wire shelves with holes at alternating ends so he can't fall any further than ten inches. Foo Foo loves the Tower. He spends the majority of his time on the top shelf, which is 64 inches off the ground. There's a hole between his old cage (on the ground) and the tower, so he can go back and forth any time he likes.

We haven't found him making any unauthorized ascents since we built the tower.
